1、队员的替补
在比赛成死球局面时，替补队员可以随时上场替补，参加比赛。替补队员可替补本队“上场队员名单”上所列任一队员，并按被补替补队员的击球次序击球。被替补队员退出比赛后除可担任跑垒指导员外，不得再次上场参加本场比赛。如果有二人或二人以上的防守队员同时替补时，教练员必须在队员上场前将每个队员的击球次序向司球裁判员说明，并由司球裁判员通知记录员备查。如果没有说明，司球裁判员有权指定替补队员的击球次序。原投手在同一局中仅限于担任一次非投手的防守位置。原投手在同一局中因各种原因调换到其他防守位置，在该局中还允许再调回到投手位置，但调回后必须投完该局，不允许再调往其他位置，除非更换投手。
2、跑垒员的替补
比赛时，不得由“上场队员名单”上所列的开场队员代替本队其他队员跑垒。本规则的目的在于禁止所谓本队“处于好意代跑员”即出场比赛队员或已退出比赛的不合法替补队员为他人代跑。任何未列在“上场队员名单”上的队员，一经上场为他人代跑就被视为上场替补了队员。
3、投手的替补(先发投手和后援投手的义务)
(A)在交给司球裁判员的“上场队员名单”所列投手有投球至第一个击球员或其替补击球员完成击球任务(上垒或出局)的义务。除非受伤或生病司球裁判员认为不能参加比赛。
(B)替补投手要向击球员及其替补员击球员继续投球，直至他们完成击球任务(上一垒或出局)后或一局完了交换攻守时方可被替补(除非受伤不能参加比赛)。
(C)若投手的替补发生错误，裁判员应即指出改由正确的投手投球直至完成规则规定的任务止。如错误的替补投手没有更换而已向击球员投球，则所形成的一切局面均为合法。错误投手一经投出第一个球或者任一跑垒员被判出局，则该错误投手成为合法投手其之后进行的比赛为有效。
4、替补队员时，教练员或主教练员(MANAGER)应立即将替补队员的情况(姓名、衣号、位置等)告知司球裁判员，并向其说明该替补队中的击球次序。
5、司球裁判员接受替补队员的请求后，应即宣布替补队员的姓名、衣号、位置和击球次序。
6、未经裁判员宣告而更换球员如有下列任一情况时，均承认为已出场比赛即视为合法替补，所进行的攻守活动均有效:
(A)替补投手已踏触投手板时;
(B)替补击球员已进入击球区时;
(C)替补守场员已到达被替补队员通常防守的位置并开始比赛时;
(D)替补跑垒员已到达被替补跑垒员所在垒位时。
